mzs lawyers, Düsseldorf, is a lawfirm specialized in banking and capital markets law. We operate nationwide and continuously counsel financial service providers and other companies regarding supervisory matters. One main focus of our practice is counselling on supervisory matters regarding payment services and e-money business. The question when a payment service is being provided or e-money business conducted, generally is a question which can only be answered on the basis of the merits of the individual case. We command expert knowledge and specialised professional expertise in the examination of business models and represent our client’s interests vis-à-vis the German financial supervisory authority BaFin.

History

mzs lawyers emerged from the long-established law firm Kortländer & Partner, which was founded in 1954 and specialised in commercial law. With the entry of lawyer Gustav Meyer zu Schwabedissen in 1986 as a partner came the systematic specialisation on banking and capital markets law. Since 1996, Mr. Meyer zu Schwabedissen has been leading the firm, since 2005 under the name “mzs lawyers”. The law firm currently employs 26 employees, 17 of them lawyers.
